SKIN RESURFACING WITH FRAXEL LASER, WHAT TO EXPECT?
Fractional skin resurfacing with the Palomar Icon Aesthetic System uses laser energy microbeams to create columns of heated tissue that extends into the deeper layer of the skin, while leaving the top skin layer intact. Natural skin resurfacing heated columns trigger a natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue with no downtime. This results in what is called non-ablative skin resurfacing. The Palomar 1540 laser penetrates deeper (up to 1 mm) than most other devices: the deeper the columns, the greater the formation of new tissue.

Fraxel Laser Procedure:
Although many patients can be treated without topical anesthesia, you may be asked to apply topical numbing cream to the area 1 hour prior to your treatment. After properly cooling the skin, the doctor will move the laser hand piece over the treatment area. You will feel a zapping sensation during the procedure. The treatment will last 20 minutes to an hour depending on the area that is being treated. You will be able to go back to work immediately after this procedure as there is no downtime.
