IPL Treatment FAQ's

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology cosmetic and medical providers use to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes. IPL addresses multiple skin concerns, including unwanted hair, pigmentation problems, sun damage, and spider veins. It can also be used to alleviate certain dermatologic diseases.

IPL delivers quick pulsations of broad-spectrum light. These wavelengths absorb excess pigment and restore a smoother and more even complexion. Through the healing process, patients will enjoy collagen-stimulating benefits that work to improve the skin’s overall texture and tone.

Most patients will need multiple treatments to reach their goals. However, treatment numbers also depend on skin concerns. We will discuss treatment numbers and expected outcomes at your consultation.

The results of IPL treatment are not immediate. You may begin to see results approximately 14 days after treatment. You may require multiple treatments to reach your desired outcome.

You can expect minimal downtime and discomfort following an IPL treatment. It is best to avoid hot showers for 24 hours while the skin is cooling from the laser treatment. Apply sunscreen and follow all post-care instructions given by your aesthetician.
