Neurotoxins temporarily inhibit the discharge of acetylcholine, which disrupts nerve signals telling muscles to contract and move. When you tense your jaw, smile, squint or make other facial expressions, lines and wrinkles form over time. Once the facial muscles are injected with neurotoxin, the skin smooths, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
Neurotoxin results will not appear immediately. Approximately 5-7 days post-injections, you will detect reduced movement in the facial muscles. Full optimization will appear 14 days after your injections and lasts about 2-3 months.
